CREATIVE-RECOVERY EXERCISES
Look up AA or some other recovery program on the Internet. A search will provide innumerable sites to explore. Take a several-hour journey into the world of self-help groups, doing your best to stay open-minded. When you are done, patiently appraise what you have learned and decide whether attending one or another of the available meetings might be something to consider.
Think through whether the LifeRing Secular Recovery construct of an inner sober voice and an inner addict voice captures something of your internal dynamic. If it does, transcribe one of those conversations and become better acquainted with each voice: how it argues, what it wants, and (for the addict voice especially) what tricks it pulls.
